When Norbert of Xanten founded his order in the 12th century, it is unlikely he could have imagined the impact his community would have on the world. Today, its reach extends to six continents and is made up of more than 1,600 members, including priests, brothers, deacons and novices, as well as nuns and sisters, plus hundreds of lay associates connected to these communities.
From 2020 – 2021, the Order of Prémontré celebrated a 900-year anniversary of its heritage infused with zeal, commitment, devout service and a loving spirit. Let us continue to celebrate with them on their journey towards another 900 years!
Norbertines follow the Rule of St. Augustine and live communally in priories and abbeys. They also are heavily involved in activities in their wider communities.
The Center for Norbertine Studies, in collaboration with Norbertines throughout the world, explores how the order’s heritage can inform and help shape spiritual, intellectual and cultural life.
